This is the part where I realized that I wasted some effort.
The third choice, where Micaiah refuses to kill Pelleas, is missing! I did some research afterwards, then I realized that I did not start a "New Game+" file. All those effort to use Ike to engage the Black Knight in Chapter 7, wasted!
What can I do? All I can do now is to continue the challenge, permanently removing Soren from the main lineup in the process. At least it's only Soren who got some of the exp meant for the other ladies.
So I'll say goodbye to Pelleas, and Sephiran, for now. If I get the motivation to play this again, I will do it.
Moving on, this chapter is a defense level. The defend space is not just a single tile this time, the territory is pretty large. Units should not be able to pass through the boundary line. The worse part, Micaiah's participation is minimal here. She can only launch Purge (5 uses only) and use Physic staves. She could do better, but she can't go through the boundary to help the others properly.
Defending with such a small army, a small, well trained army. Now I'm wondering why I let Jill switch to the other team. Either way... I'm fighting...
IKE? We'll be owned by Ragnell. |
Since I'm using a small army, defending is somewhat difficult. There are a lot of access points to the boundary line, and I can't block them all. Actually, I can, but I won't. At least there are the "Other" units to help out.
Pretty tricky defend mission, since I'm dealing with beast laguz and bird laguz. The beasts are no problem, but the birds are the annoying ones. Breach through the blockade and own Laura. That is not cool!
And I'm supposed to fight the units I trained well? |
Fiona started out really weak, but I trained her well on Chapter 6, when they are battling the laguz. She has bad performance until she reached around level 10 of Lance Paladin, and now she is doing pretty well.
Again, Sothe is a required unit, so I'm using him amidst the All Girl Challenge. Why do I even have to use him? Why can't a required character have a better class. Knives and daggers have low attack power, and he has low defensive abilities, making it a bad idea to make him rush to the enemy.
More feels...
Ike, don't kill me! Lol, increased dodge rules. |
Her safety is important after all. |
Is that, BAHAMUT? |
Endgame
The Apostle's Army continues to pursue the soldiers of Daien. Now Kurthnaga comes to assist Daien. Why would he do that?
The mission is to defeat a number of enemies. I think it is more like sit and wait for the allies to defeat the enemies, because they wreck a good amount of enemies.
Too bad these ladies cannot participate. |
Allied units have two groups. One is a beast group of laguz led by Skrimir, and the other a hawk group laguz led by Tibarn. Such powerful groups, they may as well do all the killings. Of course, I won't allow that. I need those exp points also, so I tried to finish off as much units as possible.
Events happen from the 5th unit up to the 25th (if I remember correctly) unit killed, in increments of five. Here are the events that happened:
Lehran's medallion causing chaos around everyone. |
Sanaki sees someone in camp. |
Leanne passes out because of the chaos of the medallion. |
After all, the dragon laguz are neutral in the previous war. |
And that voice is leading her somewhere. |
The objective says rout enemy, yet after 'x' units killed, the mission ends. |
Ike, wielding the Ragnell, won't have any more problems when fighting ranged units. his only problem is his low resistance. He is also one point short on speed to avoid getting doubled by the Black Knight on Chapter 7. Too bad his promotion is scripted. I could've abused his Ragnell. Not bad too, as I could focus on training the ladies.
Sigrun joins late, and her stats aren't the best. She's going to need some serious training in Part 4 to boost her stats. I made her use stronger weapons so she can help in finishing off enemies, because of her low strength.
Another lady who joins late, Tanith is almost the same as Sigrun. She also needs stronger weapons to be useful. Too bad her ability to call reinforcements back in PoR can't be used anymore. I would love to abuse that skill.
The first one to promote to 3rd tier, but still vulnerable, because her defensive stats are still pretty low. Thankfully, she can utilize this disadvantage through the use of her counter skill. Just have to avoid making her charge recklessly.
I was expecting more from her stat growth. Focused on healing allies, her Florete is not really used that much. After all, she is the only healing unit that I have, until the sages promote to arch sages. Hopefully, her promotion to Valkyrie will improve her offensive abilities as well.
To my luck, Mia is one of the best performing units. Even though her strength is not that high as a swordsmaster, she is lucky enough to perform critical hits. Looking forward to her better performance as a Trueblade, because one of my favorite skills, Astra, will be present.
The thing I like about mages in this game, they are very versatile units. Ilyana can easily take down most enemies thanks to her magic. Although she does not double attack much, I gave her the Adept skill so she can finish off enemies easily with some luck. She will be more useful as an Arch Sage, hopefully.
Nephenee? She's a very good front liner. Who needs a tough unit, when you have her, a semi-tank who cannot be owned by armorslayers, and has good evasion? I would not hesitate sending her to block enemy paths, because I know she will survive. Innate Wrath skill combined with Vantage is my skill combination for her. Looking forward to her Sentinel skill, Pierce, which deals 4x damage.
Heather's not really the offensive unit type, but still very useful in some situations. She can go after less defensive units like mages thanks to her good resistance. My favorite job for her? Let her strip enemies of usables and unequipped items. Saves me the needed gold to buy some of them.
Heavily trained during the events of Part 2, and Part 3 Chapter 8, Marcia has grown into a formidable unit. She can easily finish off most units without difficulty. As usual, her problems are bows and crossbows. Wind magic does not pose much of a threat because of high resistance.
Ilyana version 2? She could be, but for me, Ilyana is still the better mage. Like Ilyana, versatility is her good side. She works great with Nephenee as they have a bond from PoR save file. Hoping for her better performance in the upcoming chapters.
Being able to use bows only really sucks. Astrid's speed is also terrible, as she needs adept just to secure a good kill by chance. Well, she starts out with really low stats, but with Paragon skill, which will help her become more powerful (in my case, not much). Hopefully she could work out her growth since she will be wielding the best bow for the final chapters, as she is the only one who can.
From fighting laguz, to fighting Daien, Jill performed well. She just needs to avoid those mages. She got good output damage, making her really useful against hordes of enemies. Even with only hand axe as her weapon, she can still best most units. Just don't count those high HP laguz and generals.
Current count: 74 |
This is what Mist heard, as she collapsed in battle. |
I must admit, this part freaked me out a bit on my first play through. |
